Irma C. Magaña, of Houston TX, passed away July 26th, 2020. She was born to parents Ildefonso Vara Bermudez and Irene Vara Torres, on April 10th 1955 in Houston TX. Irma graduated and received an Associates in Accounting from Santa Barbara Business College. She married her husband Luis Cruz Magaña on December 2nd 1972 and they lived together in Newark, California from 1972 – 1993, then in Hayward California from 1993 – 2002 before moving to Houston TX. later that year.

Irma was predeceased by her brother Ricardo Vara. She is survived by her sisters: Rosa Sanchez, Cristela Rangel, Letica Hernandez, Maribel Arriaga, Irene Moreno; and her brothers: Jose Vara, and Arnold Vara. Irma is also survived by her Husband Luis and her son Jesse.

Irma excelled in math, later using her gifts when beating anyone in a game of poker. As a mother, Irma would make sure education was Jesse’s highest priority and as a wife, she and her husband Luis were inseparable. Her favorite activities included card games, spending time with family, and watching her son perform. She was adventurous, taking time to ride any roller coaster within sight; and a social butterfly, always visiting with family and friends. People would describe her as loving and understanding with a contagious laugh and a truly illuminating smile. Not only was she an amazing mother and wife, she was an even better friend.

Luis and Jesse welcome and appreciate guests making cash donations, in lieu of sending flowers or food. However, after the burial any flower arrangements will be disassembled and spread across the cemetery to share a small piece of love and joy to other families in her honor.
