Sofia Christina Gyomlai was born in New Orleans, LA on April 6, 1965, daughter of Laszlo and Sofia Gyomlai. She was a loving mother of six children. Sofia was a passionate and strong-willed woman. She was quick to speak her mind and had the wit to back it up. Her happiness shined most brightly when she was surrounded by her children over large home cooked meals. Sofia was the type of mother who always had an extra plate ready for any friends or family who might have needed it. She seriously cooked enough for an army! In her spare time, she enjoyed binge reading Stephen King novels, cooking, visiting local festivals and gardening. She knew how to plan for fun and create it! This passion for fun led to many spontaneous weekend trips! Don’t let this fool you though, she was a creature of habit most of the time. Her days always HAD to start with a coffee or diet coke and end with a glass of wine and a cigarette. Sofia would be most proud to know that she taught her children to be strong, lead with integrity, and to plan ahead.

She is survived by her children: Alesha Nicole Leblanc, Colette Meredith Davis-Jones, Michael Andrew Gyomlai, Desiree Noelle Palmer, Alexander Seth McCoy, and Vivian Sarolta McCoy; and her grandchildren: Kassady Lynn Rogers, Mia Shabnam Bigdeli, Kali Sahar Bigdeli, and Andrew Renae Gyomlai.
