Trevor Roalston Hackett
May 31, 1944 – February 2, 2022

Trevor Roalston Hackett was born May 31, 1944, in the town of St. Madeleine on the island of Trinidad & Tobago to Lionel “Sonny” Hackett and Grethel Prime. He was the firstborn to both.  He was affectionately also known as (Mr. Trevor, Beef, Playboy and Carnival).

He is survived by his wife Evelyn Hackett, his two daughters, Shurla Forde and Michelle Hackett-Charles and his four stepsons Richard Chandler, Hyron, Tyrone, and Courtney Fenton and a host of grand and great grandchildren too numerous to name them all.  He was Big Brother to Louis, Ann, Francis, Tilda, Annette, Michael (D) and Angela (D) Patricia, Allison, Anthony and Steve and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins also too numerous to name as well as his lifelong friend Selwyn Nelson, in-laws and all who knew and loved him.

Trevor migrated to the US around 1969 via St. Croix where he worked as a welder, he traveled extensively both around the US and internationally.  He was so skilled at his profession that he was able to join the Steamfitters Union and pursued and got his degree at San Jacinto College.

Beef was also known for his love of music and carnival where he played percussions (namely the congas) in several music bands and Steelbands.  He was the first to bring Soca artists to Houston and have big Old Years night parties. He loved creating and building big Mas costumes and bringing out mas bands, he was the first to bring Carnival to Houston. He would always travel to other cities carnival (New York, Boston, Florida, San Antonio, Canada, etc.) as well as travel back to Trinidad for Carnival whenever he could to assist in the making of King and Queen costumes with D’Midas and Steven Derrick and never missed a Coffee Boys fete. Trevor was also a bird lover (especially Parrots) we had Leslie 1,2,3,4 and now Noisey.

Just as he was passionate about carnival, he was passionate about his spiritual life, he could be found always pulling (making) drums and always supported his daughters and family back home in Trinidad with Feast.  You could always find him drumming whether in church, prayers, thanksgivings or feast.

On February 2, 2022, he was called home be with the Lord and his Ancestors.  Beef lived a full life doing what he loved.  He was a kindhearted man, generous to a fault and was always there when you needed him.
