Carmen Ana Marrero was a wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to all. She was an extremely intelligent and independent woman. Carmen was very resourceful and she was always trying to educate herself to learn more about God, life, and love. She was a faithful woman with a faith stronger than a rock. She prayed for everyone. Her love of people and Christ is what led her to become a social worker. She would always say that her job made her soul happy. She loved people immensely; giving so much of herself to making others happy and letting them feel the warmth of her love.

Carmen was a fashionista. She never spent time at home without her hair done, make-up on, and a little Amarige perfume to smell perfect. She was also an excellent cook and baker. It almost felt as though you were eating food from a world-class chef. The world was blessed to have her. Her light and love will resonate through all of the countless lives she touched. Her passions included traveling, singing, and dancing. She was a woman who was always so full of life and energy.

She is survived by her son Walter Garcia, granddaughter Lindsay Garcia, and great-granddaughter Ava Yanez.

I was so deeply saddened to hear of your mother’s passing. She was an angel. Her beautiful smile was a beacon of love. After the death of my mom, Petrita–who loved Carmen dearly, like a sister–I always cherished seeing your mom. That smile reminded me of my mom. (It must be a Puerto Rican thing!) I am going to miss her. I know how devastating this time is for you, but please know that I believe in my heart that my mom and yours are in heaven dancing and having a party. We have lost a beautiful soul but I know she will live on in you and your memories. Peace be with you all.
