June 11, 1933 – August 5, 2022

Bernabe Munoz Hernandez Sr., 89, was born on June 11, 1933 to Faustino and Severa Hernandez in Gonzalez, Texas and passed away on August 5, 2022 in Pasadena, Texas. Bernabe Hernandez worked in the fields at the early age of 12 helping his father plant vegetables and cotton. He lived in Waelder, Texas, Needville, Texas and East Bernard, Texas.

Bernabe came to Pasadena, Texas in 1952 at the age of 19 years old and married Juanita Vera in 1954. He worked at the City of Pasadena in the Sanitation Department from 1953-1968 as a harbor and a truck driver; Champion Paper Mill from 1969-1976; House Foundation from 1978-1998 and retired in 1998. He also worked part time with RQ Mills from 1958-1965. Bernabe was of the catholic religion. He was always outspoken at church and different events. He helped out from cleaning, serving at events and welcoming the newcomers with their needs. He was a Guadalupano, praying was his priority. He prayed his rosary for 3 hours on his knees to his parents, siblings, children and grandchildren. He would also pray for the sick and the passing. Bernabe Hernandez hobbies were building houses, house foundation, healing, dancing (he was a great dancer). His favorite foods were watermelon, menudo, tamales and Mexican BBQ. During lent, his favorite things to cook were fish, fries, homemade coleslaw and hush puppies.
Bernabe Munoz Hernandez Sr. will be deeply missed by family and friends.

Bernabe is preceded in Death by his Parents, Faustino & Severa Hernandez; Spouse, Juanita Vera Hernandez; Son, Matthew Hernandez Sr.; Great Grandson Avery; Sisters, Paula Suarez & Martina Tamez.

He is survived by his Spouse Guadalupe Rodriguez Hernandez; Children, Carmen Vera, Justina Cuevas (Henry) Sebera Molina, Elizabeth Rodriguez, Paul Flores Jr. (Barbara), Benny Hernandez, Sabino Hernandez (Angie), and Francisco Hernandez; 22 Grandchildren; 52 Great Grandchildren; 7 Great-Great Grandchildren; Siblings Monica Tamez, Josephina, Pauline Gaitan, Luciano Hernandez, Jean Hernandez & Lewis Hernandez.
