Dominick Sonny Ungaro
9/29/1947 – 10/26/2022

The Ungaro family is devastated to announce the death of our beloved patriarch. Dominick Sonny Ungaro. Also known to some as “The Dom” and “Donnie” to so many others.  A wonderful and loving husband, father and Papa. He was born in Brooklyn, New York on the 29th day of September in 1947.  He is preceded in death by his father, Peter B. Ungaro and his mother, Elizabeth (Betty) Ungaro (nee: Prestia). He attended Catholic School in his youth and graduated from New Utrecht High School. After High school he was drafted to the United States Army and deployed to Vietnam during his time enlisted. He was honorably discharged after 2 years of service. He worked most of his adult life at Charisma Restorations in Staten Island, NY before retiring and moving with his family to Friendswood, TX. Dominick passed away at the age of 75 surrounded by his loved ones on Wednesday, October 26th 2022 at The Heart Hospital at HCA Houston Clearlake in Webster, TX due to complications from Meningitis and Kidney Disease. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Lorie Ann Ungaro (nee: Wallin), His Children Peter, Michael, Nicole, Amanda and Christopher. His daughter in laws Maria, Haylee and Vanessa. His son in laws Jeremy and Charlie. His Grandchildren Madeline, Brianna, Joseph, Dominick, Gianna, Madison, Cristiano, Estella, Joshua, Nicholas, Annabelle, Gabriel, Everly, Mia, Talia, Mariana, Logan and Julian. His sister Venus, and his brother Peter.  This loss is a huge blow to his family who loved him dearly and will mourn him always. His laughter and love kept them centered. His kindness, carefulness, love and generosity will always be remembered. His personality was incredible. To know him, was to love him. He loved the New York Yankees, Dunkin Donuts and Jesus Christ.  He spent most of his time with his wife Lorie who was nearest and dearest to his heart. He lived his life to the fullest and enjoyed things such as Casinos, Horse Racetracks, or simply looking out over the ocean from the deck of a beach house. He loved celebrating everyone’s birthday and holidays were even more special. Our dearly departed, Dominick, will be missed always and forever.

Funeral Service Information

Dominick will be laid to rest on the 7th day of November 2022. His funeral proceedings will be held at Mary Queen Catholic Church located at 606 Cedarwood Dr., Friendswood, TX.   Viewing begins at 10am. Mass begins promptly at 11am. Then he will be laid to rest at Houston National Cemetery for veterans located at 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr. Houston, TX 77038.  

Private reception to follow for Dominick’s family to reminisce, grieve, support each other and of course, just chat.

    Dear Dad:

    Grateful for the time we spent with each other. It was great to watch the Cowboys Giant games together. We enjoyed going out to dinner and our talks.
