Issa Juma Maswanya came from a large extended family of Maswanya and Njohole.  He was the first son of Mr. Juma and Mary Njohole Maswanya. He was born 32 years ago in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania. He is survived by his parents, younger brother Abbasi Maswanya, sister Mrs. Asha Maswanya Kalinga, three nieces Iman, Mia, and Amira Kalinga; cousin Suzy Njohole with his niece Petra and nephew Peter Mwendanunu, and cousin Huba Swedi and family all residing here in Houston Texas. He leaves behind many other relatives across USA, Europe and Tanzania.

He received his form education in United States, Tanzania and India where he developed his interest in motorcycling.  He worked as security guard for Allied Security and youth instructor at a gym.  Unfortunately, his life was cut short at about 4:25am, on May 11,2024; as a result of a hit and run motorcycle accident that took place on highway 6, Houston Texas.  He was heading to the gym to teach his youth group basketball.  His career goal was to become a police officer.

Issa was a good role model and youth mentor in his neighborhood. His peers described him as a workaholic, trustworthy and straight forward person who gets along with everyone. He loved food, shoes, to watch and play basketball, motorbike video and Chinese rap.

The family of Issa Juma Maswanya expresses sincere gratitude for all the spiritual, emotional and financial support given during this difficult time. Special thanks to the Tanzania Houston Community (THC), Tanzania Sharing Association (TSA), Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home and Cemetery, Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Crossbridge Christian Church, Prayer Mountain Ministries of Houston, Umoja Church, Dew of Heaven church, as well as The Voices of East African SDA Church, coworkers, relatives and friends from near and far.
