September 25, 1959 – January 21, 2021

Susie Houston, age 61, of Houston, Texas passed away on January 21, 2021 into the hands of her Loving Lord. Susie was born in Houston, Texas on September 25, 1959, the youngest of 5 girls born to her late parents, Paul and Henrietta George.

Susie graduated from Milby High School and attended the University of Houston. She landed her “dream” job at Continental Airlines where she flourished for over 25 years. This allowed Susie and her family to travel to across America and abroad, a dream she had as a little girl. Her favorite destination was Hawaii, where she was happiest with “her toes in the sand & a lemonade in her hand”, this was her happy place! She loved to laugh, tell a joke and meet new friends wherever she was. She had a kind heart trying over her life to make a difference in people’s lives, helping neighbors and friends, baking treats, anything she could do to bring them a smile.
Susie was also an avid sports fan with her favorite teams were the Houston Oilers and then the Houston Texans! She collected fan gear and celebrated every game whether in person or watching on TV, she was a participating fan cheering on her “Team”.

Susie also was a huge supporter of the Houston Rodeo and worked Rodeo events for over 10 years where she found a newfound appreciation of country music. She had every CD of both Kenny Chesney and Garth Brooks and was Kenny’s “# 1 Fan” and loved to attend concerts, singing along to all the songs, she knew every word of every song.

Susie was most proud of becoming a Mother to 3 Children, striving to give them the best life she could. She established a Girl Scout troop for her daughters and participated with her son in his Boy Scout troop, going camping and being the only Mom there! She took charge of the cooking and loved her role as a Troop Leader for many years. Susie was also a dog lover with a soft spot in her heart for all animals, recently rescuing her beloved “Mama” dog who will miss her dearly.

Susie is survived by her beloved Children, Adam Houston, Whitney Houston and Taylor Houston. She is also survived by her sisters, Beverly McGrew (Robert McGrew) and Terry George and her niece Dawn Palmer (Steve Palmer) and Mother-in-Law, Ira Houston and Sister-in-Law, Marilyn Houston and many nieces and nephews and cousins.

Susie is preceded in Death by her daughter, Camille Houston; Parents, Paul and Henrietta George; Sisters Maureen Brock and Baby George; Grandparents Frank and Louise Absnaider and Lela George.
Susie loved her Church, “Mercy Street” and found Hope, Community and Strength there. No more judgment only Salvation.

There will be a Celebration of Life for Susie for Family and Friends on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at 11:00 am at Mercy Street Church, located at 11140 Greenbay Street, Houston Texas 77024 (located at the back entrance of Chapelwood United Methodist Church) Donations to Mercy Street in Susie’s name can be given in lieu of flowers at www.mercystreet.org/give

ONLY ONE MOTHER
MOST OF ALL THE BEAUTIFUL THINGS IN LIFE
COME BY TWOS AND THREES,
BY DOZENS AND HUNDREDS.

    I never ever thought this day would come this soon. We did most things together, as young chicks and as old hens. I loved my sister more than she will ever know. I’m thankful and blessed that she gave me three souls to love and watch over. Her son Adam and daughters Whitney and Taylor. All the love your mother had for each of you did not die with her, it still lives on.

    Mom,

    Not a day goes by that I don’t think about you. I don’t think I will ever be the same without you, but I’m trying to be strong like I know you would want me to do. Unfortunately We are only granted one mother in this lifetime and i will forever be thankful and most proud to call you Mom. Your love runs through me forever. Actually “Your love is like tears from the stars”. I promise me, Whitney, & Adam will stick together, we need each other more than ever now. Thank you for being our Mom. Aunt Bev & Aunt Terry are playing their part like they know, so don’t worry we will be okay. I miss everything about you. I’m sorry if I didn’t remind you enough how much I love you and appreciate you everyday but I hope you know now.

    Get your rest lady, I can’t wait to catch up with you when I see you again.

    I will always love you.

    Your “Boo-Tay” <3

    I know Susie was very loved and will be dearly missed. Wishing you peace to bring comfort, courage to face the days ahead and loving memories to forever hold in your heart.
    Hope you find a little comfort in knowing she is safely home.

    Donna

        Safely Home
      I am home in heaven, dear ones;

    Oh so happy and so bright!

    There is perfect joy and beauty In this everlasting light.
      All the pain and grief is over,
 Every restless tossing passed;
   I am now at peace forever,
            Safely home in heaven at last.
     Did you wonder how I so calmly
 Trod the valley of the shade?

      Oh, but Jesus’ love illumined
 Every dark and fearful glade.
     And he came himself to meet me In that way so hard to tread;

    And with Jesus’ arm to lean on, Could I have one doubt or dread?
     Then you must not grieve so sorely,

    For I love you dearly still;
 Try to look beyond earth’s shadows,
 Pray to trust our Father’s will.
     There is work still waiting for you,

    So you must not idly stand;
 Do it now, while life remains,  You shall rest in Jesus’ land.  When that work is all completed,
 He will gently call you home;

     Oh, the rapture of that meeting,
 Oh, the joy
    to see you come!

    Susan was a true friend for over 20 plus years. We had a wonderful time thur the years. In Girl Scout, I learned so much from her on all of our camping trips. We had so much fun with our girls. We took many trips traveling together with our families. I have such fond memories hanging out with Susan. Texans games, going to Kenny Cheney concerts. Ten man country jam. Girl time at our home’s, just relaxing. I will miss her, rest easy my sweet friend. I know she will be watching over her children that she loved so much. I know she is now at peace and pain free.
    My condolences to the family
