08.08.1990 – 07.04.2021

Nathaniel had gorgeous dark smiling eyes, a big heart and perfect arms for big bear hugs. You felt his genuine love when you were hugged. His handsome smile was definitely welcoming and a delight to see. He had a big heart and never met a stranger. He was a bit feisty but was also strong willed. We all loved his great sense of humor and that staggering walk of his. Nathaniel was an aspiring bicyclist – he loved bikes! I think he loved bikes as much as he loved cooking but he never loved anything or anyone as much as he loved his darling daughter Jordyn. She was the reason for his being here; she was his breath, his joy – his love. Although they were apart, she was always close to his heart. Nothing in this lifetime could ever take his mind off her.

Nathaniel Reese McMahan is survived by his mother, Lorie Fortson; Father, Brent McMahan; Daughter, Jordyn McMahan; Stepfather, Stan Fortson; Brother; Joshua Zane Ballard; Beloved family and friends.

“Hey, If you see my little girl, can you whisper in her ear for me that her daddy loves her and is real like unicorns . . .” ~ Nathaniel Reese McMahan

I just want to say that I know your mom loves you so much, Nathan, we talked about you daily. I know we don’t officially know each other but I just want to say that one day you will see your mom and baby girl, Jordyn, and I know you will be watching over them and God please give this family peace as I can’t imagine being a mom and having to bury my son, but I know that we all have our day that we come home to you I just pray that you are taking care of Nathan and just somehow through this tragedy that they can find some peace, that only God can give! Nathan your mom loved you so much and I know you knew that. She is hurting and never would have thought she would be here today. Watch over Jordyn and mom please!

Dear Nathan, every single person that had the pleasure to meet you will be enormously miss you. With your radiant energy- you have left a mark in each one of us. I will treasure in my heart, all the times spent together, the late night movies, all the long talks about French culture, your passion for food and biking. I feel so lucky that in this life we are cousins, and if we weren’t I would still want you in my life because not many people are as unique and special as you.

When I close my eyes can picture you racing with your bike through a beautiful field, in a warm summer day. Your big smile, dark hair and golden skin glistening under the sun. I know your are in a better place now, but we will miss you and love you forever.
