Javier Herrera was born to Emiliano and Maria Herrera on June 22, 1970 in Laredo, Texas. Javier grew up along side his twin brother Will Herrera and two younger sister, Alicia Herrera-Requeno and Marissa Herrera. Throughout his childhood, Javier was the most quiet, shy, and curious of all his siblings. In his teen years, Javier participated in many things like the Hispanic Youth Club at St. Benedict Catholic Church, in Houston, Texas and JROTC at James Madison High School.

At the age of 21, Javier was blessed with his first child, Edward Herrera. Soon after, in 1993 his second son Ruben Herrera was born. In 1997, Javier embraced his step-children Britny and Ricky Maldonado as his own. By 1998, Javier had his third child Vicky Herrera, a daughter. These five children were Javier’s pride and joy and the source of his life’s motivation. In his thirties, Javier found all of his God-given passions. This time of his life was filled with faith, love and hard work. Not a day went by without him reading scripture, spreading joy, and giving his all. In 2005, Javier’s mechanical passion lead him to a petroleum drilling technology company called Canrig, where he was a technical mechanic. It was there that he thrived and made life-long friends. He saw his co-workers as a family.

By 2007, Javier strengthened his faith by becoming a Deacon, under Pastor Angel Padilla, at Magnolia’s First Baptist Church in Magnolia, Texas. This is when he started to make so many wonderful faith-based motivational impacts in his community and those around. In 2015, Javier gained the title of “Grandpa” when he became a grandfather to Victoria Herrera, his best friend. She was always there to provide Javier with many laughs and many hugs.

His death may have been sudden to all of us, but his memory and impact on others lives on forever. Not a day will go by where we will find ourselves remembering Javier’s words and in his wishes living life according to God. Many blessing to everyone who’s reached out, texted, called, said a prayer, and helped us along the way. We are forever indebted to you all. May we all live like Javier, full of life, full of fun, and full of faith.
