James Frederick Burnett Sr.
August 7, 1932 – June 13, 2022

James Frederick Burnett Sr. born August 7, 1932 in Dripping Springs, Texas died June 13, 2022 in Pasadena, Texas at the age of 89.

June 3, 1950, he married Margie Wolle in South Houston, Texas. They were married 72 years and resided in Pasadena, Texas. They had 2 sons Buster and David.

We asked mom how they met, she said her neighbor introduced them but her mom told her she couldn’t date James because he drove a hotrod. But dad was determined! From riding his bicycle to her house, even letting her perm his hair.

James worked on a ranch with his father and brother, Bob when he was young. Dad quit school in 8th grade to work in the oil field with his father making 50 cents an hour.

James played baseball, softball he and mom played volleyball for years traveling around from tournament to tournament. He coached both boys in Little League Baseball. He and mom went skiing in Colorado alot thru the years. He played golf with David Sr. & Jr., was active in Toys for Tots for a few years, always playing in their golf tournament.

We asked Margie to describe the kind of husband James was- all she could think of to say was that words couldn’t describe who and how he was. We also asked David what kind of father he was- he stated Dad was the best anybody could ask for. Grandchildren that were here stated he was a pretty awesome PAPA too!

He enjoyed when he and mom could go watch a soccer game, baseball or softball game, volleyball or basketball game, even to the golf course to watch either kids, great grandchildren and great – great grandchildren play whatever sport it was. Loved playing cards, games and doing puzzles with them too!

Things that have been said about dad over and over is that he taught us all that we wanted to be like him, as far as his demeanor, his kindness, his loving heart for everyone and to never look down on anybody, because everyone is and equal and no matters the circumstances all deserved a chance. He was such a warm and loving good man that was loved so dearly by many and will be missed greatly!

So many memories from childhood to adulthood. An extremely kind, funny, loving and genuine man. Not once do I remember him ever raising his voice at us and often encouraged mischief. I hope that all had the privilege of having a PawPaw like him…we have all been truly blessed to have had the years we did with him. Love and miss him!
