Jose Angel Lopez Jr.
January 8, 1969 – July 1, 2022

Jose Angel Lopez Jr. (Chacho) was the fifth child of Jose Angel and Guadalupe Lopez. He was a father of 4, stepfather of 2, grandpa of 5, and a brother of 6.

Chacho was a veteran, always patriotic and extremely proud of the country he served. He was a graduate from South Houston High School, Class of ’87. Following graduation, his love for our country had him quickly enlist into the US Army. Jose graduated from Fort Benning, Georgia in 1987 and was then stationed in Fort Carson, Colorado. Throughout his time in the service, he was stationed in Fort Hood, Texas and Korea. His time away from his family was difficult, but he served for 6 years, 5 months, and 17 days. Sergeant Lopez always said those were the best years of his life. Jose didn’t always make the best choices in life, but he learned to live with them.

He had many regrets but kept those to himself. There was never a conversation where he didn’t know what you were speaking about. Chacho was a smart man. He was avid reader, and always kept up with the current events. Whether it was sports, movies, or music he always knew what to say and how to get his opinion across, even if you didn’t agree with it. He would speak his mind and was passionate about what he had to say. Jose was a strong trump supporter, and not to make this political, but it brought many family arguments to the table. Sergeant Lopez, being Lopez, believed his way of thinking was always the only way. After his first heart attack, he sort of became a recluse. The best part of his life was spending time with his grandkids. He loved those kids, and his family.

He was a strong man, a family man, and a loving man. He was hardheaded, and stubborn, but funny and loving. Today, that is how we chose to remember him. A loving son, brother, father, uncle and grandpa.

Rest in peace Sergeant Jose A. Lopez Jr.
