Tammy Sliger Banks, 57, of Alvin, Texas passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor her legacy on January 18, 2024.

Tammy was born in Monahans, Texas on November 27, 1966 to parents Larry Wayne Sliger and Carolyn Ruth Adcock. In 1976, Carolyn moved the children to Pasadena, TX to be with their soon to be stepfather, Bill Brandenburg. The next year, the family resided in Deer Park, TX where Tammy and her siblings then attended Deer Park Independent School District. Tammy graduated as a Deer Park Deer in the class of 1985 from Deer Park High and began her adulthood.

In 1988, she married Kenneth Wright and was blessed to become a stepmom to Jessica Wright and later had two beautiful daughters; Cassi and Amber Wright. Tammy’s daughters were her pride and joy, and she was their biggest fan. She worked many years as a secretary at Pereira Plumbing with family and friends and there she met the love of her life who she later married, James Banks.

Tammy decided to go back to school with her daughter Cassi where they attended the Texas School of Business and obtained Medical Assistant Certifications. Prior to her sickness, she worked at Du-West in Pasadena as a dispatcher for the plumbing and A/C division, however she never limited herself to her specific job title. If you knew Tammy, you could agree that her work ethic was unmatched. She worked strenuously to not only make ends meet, but to provide the best life she could for her children and grandchildren. Like many, Tammy had her fair share of struggles but as her daughters would say, she was the beauty in the struggle. You would never know the cards she was dealt, no matter how high or low the times were, her loved ones 𝘢𝘭𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴 came first and no trouble, heartache or worry was ever big enough to be put on anyone else’s plate. She had a determined soul who refused to let anyone or anything take away her joy.

Outside of working hours, she could be found at the ballpark cheering on her granddaughter Kylee who is exceptionally skilled in softball. Whether it was a game at the local fields or a tournament out of state, Tammy was always there and the loudest one in the stands. She had a true passion for sports and there wasn’t a game she didn’t enjoy watching – except for the Dallas Cowboys, unless they lost of course. In addition, the lake house with family was another one of her happy places. Any opportunity she had, she took advantage of spending quality time with family and putting her needs and wants on the back burner.

A car full of happy kids always made her the happiest, and in Tammy’s mind, the more the merrier so stacking as many kids she could in her car is what she’d do. Following the cancer diagnosis, her daughters stepped up to the plate and fought alongside their mom. God blessed these girls with Tammy’s greatest qualities and just as their mom always did, they never left her side. Despite having dozens of responsibilities, Amber moved Tammy in and cared for her immensely. Cassi also played a vital role in transporting and attending all of her medical appointments and ensuring the family was always updated thoroughly and in a way to easily comprehend. Tammy’s battle with cancer was the furthest from effortless, but she fought with every ounce of her body and put up the biggest fight.

Tammy is preceded in death by father Larry Wayne Sliger, grandfather Marvin Sliger Sr., grandmother Virginia Ferguson, stepfather Bill Brandenburg, grandfather James “Dude” Adcock and grandmother Bobbie Adcock.

She is survived by her husband James Banks, daughters Cassi Wright (Shayne Farmer), Amber Wright (Tommy Gonzales) and Jessica Morales (Pedro), mother Carolyn Brandenburg, sisters Carol Bogs (Alton), Malissa Ordonez (Frank), Lori Heard (Peanut), brother Sean Sliger (Shaun Ann) and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Saving the best for last (everyone can agree that her grandchildren were her world), grandchildren Sheldon Morales, Kylee Wright, Naomie Morales, Ethan Daugherty, Arabella Morales, Hudson Farmer and Tristan Morales.

Jesus told her, “I am the resurrection and the life; whoever believes in me, even if he dies, will live, and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die.” John 11:25-26.

Tammy will be remembered by her optimism, selfless giving and compassionate heart and here on Earth, shall we remember that this is not “goodbye”, it is “see you later” – I know we all cannot wait to hug her neck again someday.
