David Charles Pangrazio
August 28, 1951 – March 4, 2024

David C. Pangrazio, age 72, of Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully at home, on March 4. David was born on August 28, 1951 in Leroy, New York.  His parents were Margaret Mary and Edward Pangrazio. David grew up in Leroy and graduated from Leroy High School in 1970.  While in high school, he worked part time as a meat cutter and then continued full time after graduation.  Three years later he decided that there had to be an easier way to make a living.  In 1973 he entered the University of Brockport, NY and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in 1977.

His desire to further his education prompted David to make his way to Houston, TX, where he studied at the University of Houston.  Always an adventurer, David developed a love of water sports while studying at the University of Houston.  He rode the rapids of the Rio Grande as well as the Colorado River, something he often repeated during his lifetime.  Because of his love of the outdoors David enjoyed camping, canoeing, and snorkeling, especially during summer vacations.

David spent his working life in the field of Analytical Chemistry.  He began his career as a Chemist working in a local Chemical plant before taking a position with Browning Ferris Industries.  He was employed in BFI’s Environmental Services Laboratory analyzing hazardous waste samples to ensure proper disposal of the material.  Quality Control is a major factor in this type of work and David specialized in QC for government compliance.  In 2000 he took a position with an environmental testing company that was eventually called ALS Environmental.  He was employed as the company’s quality control officer until his retirement seventeen years later.

David and Mary Ann Mindiola were married in 1980.  Father Carl Trutter, O.P. presided at their wedding at the chapel in the U of H Catholic Newman Center.  David went by many names including Dave, Ranger Dave, and Mary Ann’s favorite, Day-Day.  Most of David’s friends know him because of his life-long love of his church and his dedication to its music ministry and the formation of young people.  An accomplished guitar player, David spent many years as music minister at Saint Christopher parish, where he also belonged to the men’s club, and later Our Lady of Mount Carmel parish.  In his church service David was frequently sought out for leadership positions.  He served many years in the Knights of Columbus, including serving as Grand Knight of Regina Coeli Council #4577, and many years as coordinator for judges for the KofC 4577’s annual Barbecue contest, among many other worthy positions.  He, along with Mary Ann, also served their parishes in youth education ministry including preparation for the sacrament of Confirmation.  David made a Cursillo and was also often sought out for music ministry in various Cursillo events.

David was preceded in death by his parents Margaret Mary and Edward. He is survived by the love of his life, Mary Ann Mindiola, his wife of 43 years, and also his sister, Ann Stuhler (David), and six brothers, Thomas (Anne Marie), John, Brian (Deborah), Alan, Neal, and Philip. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, Thomas Pangrazio, Jr, Laura Rukavena (Pete), Rebecca Wardman (Adam), Christine Maier (Dustin), Kim Pangrazio, Travis Pangrazio (Jamie), Matthew Pangrazio Arlyn (Jeffrey), Kellie Fairchild and Olivia Pangrazio.  He is also survived by great nieces and nephews including Austin Pangrazio, Elijah Pangrazio, Emma Rukavena, Tate Wardman, Abby Wardman, Wes Maier, Jordan Maier, and James Arlyn.

Dave and my husband Frank played guitars together in the choir at Our Lady of Mount Carmel before he became a deacon. Dave always had a smile and a chuckle to lift folks up. Now he and Frank are probably in the heavenly choir together! Prayers for them both and may Dave’s wife Mary Ann heal in God’s loving embrace.
