Manvel, Texas- Carolyn Jane (Chidester) Dauwe, 84, passed away peacefully on April 6, 2024, at Harbor Hospice in Houston. Carolyn was born on September 21, 1939, in Elkton, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late Jesse and Helen (Nannah) Chidester. Carolyn lived most of her life in Ohio but enjoyed her retirement living in Houston, Texas.

She was a 1958 graduate of David Anderson High School in Lisbon, Ohio. She worked hard first as the manager of the produce section of the Salineville IGA for 24 years and then as the manager of the Salineville Carry Out for 15 years. She was a member of the Calvary United Presbyterian Church.

Carolyn was a lover of life and experiences. She enjoyed traveling, fishing, spending time at the ballpark, and most of all spending time with her family. She loved spending her days with her grandson and spoke toddler better than anyone. Her days were filled with laughter and pretend adventures with monster trucks and construction vehicles. She was an avid sports fan. In the fall you would find her yelling at the Steelers on the television. In the spring she loved baseball cheering on the Cleveland Guardians and the Houston Astros. She loved going to the stadium to experience the excitement of a live game.

Carolyn is survived by her daughter Tracie (Casey) Dauwe; grandsons Jackson Douglas Dunn (4) Manvel, Tx. and Korbin Alexander Yates (3) Dickenson, Tx; sisters Dora Jarvis of Salineville, Nancy Brink of Salem, Martha Flemming of Roy, Utah, Linda Iscenschmid of Lisbon; brother Joseph Chidester of Empire, Ohio and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband Melvin John Dauwe whom she married on June 27, 1959. They were happily married for 40 years prior to his death in 1999. She was also preceded in death by her son Melvyn Douglas Dauwe in 1995; sisters Mary Nicholson, Helen Clark, Darlene Knarr, Debbie Chidester; and brothers Dean Chidester, David Chidester, Jesse Chidester.
The family would also like to acknowledge her extended family who filled her days with love, laughter and joy; the Dunn Family, Yates Family, Rodriguez Family, Manraj-Faith Family and Anne Harland.

The family would like to invite friends and family to a celebration of life at the Russell Right Building in Kiwanis Park, Salineville on April 27th, 2024, from 1:00pm-3:30pm with graveside service to follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Houston, Texas, and Kerr-Watson Funeral Home in Salineville, Ohio.
